Bills Screen
Manage rent bills - Create bills, track payments, and verify payment receipts
The Bills screen is where you create and manage all the rent bills for your tenants. You can create individual bills, automatically generate bills for all tenants, mark when payments are received, and verify payment receipts that tenants upload. Tenants can also view their bills and upload photos of payment receipts.
Bills are created monthly (one bill per month per tenant). You can see which bills are paid, which are still waiting for payment, and which are overdue. This helps you keep track of who has paid their rent and who hasn't.

What This Does
Creating a bill manually lets you make a rent bill for one specific tenant. This is the default way to add bills if you are on the Free plan, or if you need to create a single bill outside of the bulk generation cycle.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Go to the Bills screen
- Tap the "+" (plus) button
- Select "Add Bill" from the options
- Select the tenant for whom you want to create a bill
- Choose the billing period (month) for the bill
- The bill amount will be automatically set based on the tenant's monthly rent
- Review the bill details and tap "Add"
- The bill will be created and appear in the bills list
Important: You cannot create a bill for a period before the tenant's lease start date. Each tenant can only have one bill per billing period. If a bill already exists for that period, you'll need to delete it first or edit the existing bill.

What This Does
Generating bills automatically creates rent bills for all your tenants at once. This works for all tenants with active leases.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Navigate to the Bills tab from the bottom navigation bar
- Tap the "+" (plus) button
- Select "Generate Bills" from the options
- Choose the billing period (month) for which you want to generate bills
- The system will automatically create bills for all tenants who:
- Have an active lease (assigned to a property or unit)
- Have a lease start date on or before the billing period
- Don't already have a bill for that period
- A progress indicator will show the bill generation status
- Once complete, all generated bills will appear in the bills list
Plan Requirement: This feature is available on Lite, Plus, and Pro plans. Free plan users must add bills individually.

What This Does
Recording a payment marks a bill as paid. When a tenant pays you rent (in cash, by check, or online outside the app), you manually record it so the app tracks the revenue.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Navigate to the Bills screen
- Find the bill for which you want to record a payment
- Tap the Manage button on the bill card
- Tap "Record Payment" from the menu
- Choose the payment type:
- Full Payment: The entire bill amount is paid
- Partial Payment: Only a portion of the bill is paid
- If partial payment, enter the amount being paid
- Select the payment mode (Cash, Online, Check, etc.)
- Tap "Record Payment" or "Save"
- The bill status will update to "Paid" or "Partial" based on the payment
Tip: You can record multiple partial payments for a single bill. The bill will be marked as "Paid" once the total paid amount equals the bill amount.

- Log in to the Tenanz Tenant App
- Navigate to the Bills tab
- Find the unpaid bill
- Tap "Upload Receipt" button
- Select an image from the device
- The bill status will change to "Verification Pending"
- The landlord will receive a notification to verify the receipt
Note: Tenants can only access this feature if they have been invited to the app by the landlord (requires Landlord to be on a Plus or Pro plan).
