Tenants Screen
Manage all your tenants - Add tenants, assign them to properties, and keep track of lease information
The Tenants screen is where you keep track of everyone who rents from you. You can add new tenants, update their information, assign them to properties or units, change lease details, and remove tenants when needed.
Each tenant can be connected to a property or unit. Once assigned, you can see their lease information, track their rent payments, and manage everything about their rental.

Step-by-Step Guide
- Open the Tenanz app and tap on the "Tenants" tab at the bottom of the screen
- Tap the "+" (plus) button
- A form will appear. Enter the tenant's information:
- Name: The tenant's full name (this is required)
- Email: The tenant's email address (this is optional, but it's helpful if you want to send them bills or if they want to use the tenant app)
- Tap "Save" or "Add Tenant" to create the tenant
- The tenant will now appear in your tenants list
- You can assign the tenant to a property or unit later using the "Assign Property" or "Assign Unit" action
Tip: If you add an email address, you can send rent bills and payment receipts to the tenant by email. The tenant can also use the Tenanz mobile app to view their bills and upload payment receipts if they have an email address.

- Go to the Tenants screen
- Find the tenant you want to edit in the list
- Tap the Manage button on the tenant card
- Select Edit Tenant from the menu

What This Does
Assigning a tenant to a property or unit connects them to that rental and sets up all the lease details. This is the same as renting a property to a tenant - it creates the lease agreement and allows the app to automatically create rent bills.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Navigate to the Tenants screen
- Find the tenant you want to assign to a property or unit
- Tap the Manage button on the tenant card
- Select Assign a Property or Assign a Unit from the menu
- Select the property or unit from the list
- Enter the lease information:
- Monthly Rent - The amount of rent per month
- Security Deposit - The security deposit amount
- Lease Start Date - When the lease begins
- Payment Due Day - Day of the month when rent is due (e.g., 5th)
- Preferred Payment Mode - Cash, Online, Check, etc.
- Annual Rent Increment (optional) - If you want to track the annual rent increment or be reminded of it in the future, you can fill this in as well.
- Review all information and tap "Assign" or "Save"
- The tenant will be assigned to the property/unit and the lease will be active
Note: Detailed tracking of rent increments helps keep your records organized, even though rent updates are manual.

What This Does
Terminating a lease ends the rental agreement and removes the tenant from the property or unit. All lease information is cleared, and the property becomes available to rent to someone else. The tenant stays in your tenant list, so you can rent them a different property later if needed.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Navigate to the Tenants screen
- Find the tenant whose lease you want to terminate
- Tap the Manage button on the tenant card
- Select Terminate Lease from the menu
- A confirmation dialog will appear showing the lease details
- Review the information carefully
- Confirm the termination by tapping "Terminate" or "Confirm"
- The lease will be terminated, the property/unit will be vacated, and all lease information will be cleared
- The tenant will remain in your tenant list but will no longer be associated with any property or unit
Note: Terminating a lease will remove all lease details (rent amount, lease dates, etc.) from the tenant. The property or unit will be marked as vacant. This action cannot be undone automatically, so make sure you want to terminate the lease.

What This Does
Deleting a tenant permanently removes them from your Tenanz account. This is useful if you added them by mistake or no longer need to track them. All information about the tenant will be deleted.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Go to the Tenants screen
- Find the tenant you want to delete
- Tap the Manage button on the tenant card
- Select Delete Tenant from the menu
- A confirmation dialog will appear warning you about the deletion
- Important: You can only delete tenants that are:
- Not currently renting any property or unit
- Have no active leases
- If the tenant meets the requirements, confirm the deletion
- The tenant will be permanently removed from your system
Warning: Deleting a tenant is permanent and cannot be undone. All associated data will be removed. Make sure to terminate the lease and vacate any property/unit before attempting to delete the tenant.
